Material Recycling Facility - MRF

Edwards Recycling has recently installed a new Material Recycling Facility (MRF) which enables us to divert as much waste as possible away from landfill and recycle it. Designed and engineered by O.Kay Engineering, this state of the art plant enables us to recycle nearly 30,000 tons of mixed recyclables each year. It’s based in Essex and it is also the closest MRF facility to Central London.

Our MRF can take almost any mix of recyclables - co-mingled materials such as cardboard, newspapers and magazines, steel and aluminum cans, plastics (milk bottles, drinking bottles, yogurt pots, margarine tubs) and glass if necessary Waste is separated through a system of conveyor belts, screening and other sorting systems and then ‘bulked’ and transported for further processing. A main advantage of the MRF is that it is designed to divert as much waste as possible away from landfill.

Our MRF can recover material that is 100% recyclable, the quality of the material is never compromised even at high throughputs.

Our MRF is designed to recover a variety of materials from household and commercial waste streams. The MRF is state of the art and has one of the largest capacities for handling recycling in the UK.

The Future of Recycling

We as a company feel that not only are we moving in the right direction in being able to offer an even better waste management service to our existing customers and new ones in the future, but we are also contributing to helping the environment. If one recycled tin can is able to save enough energy to power a television for three hours our MRF will play a big part in the future of recycling and saving our planet.
